The Frisbys

Ralph played Born And Raised by The Frisbys on his Radio KC Indie Show last Sunday. 

It's one of the tracks on their Double A side single, the other being Give In To The Dark, which precedes the upcoming launch of The Cause EP on the 30th of January.


Fronted by twin sisters Helen and Nicola Frisby, The Frisbys are an alternative folk band from South London. Their debut E.P Philosolove was released in 2013 and met with much success, featuring as ‘new and noteworthy’ on ITunes, reaching 45 in the singer songwriter charts and receiving radio play from Amazing Radio, Team Rock and BBC Radio stations.


The Frisbys have received support from blogs and press, with their title track Philosolove being chosen for Fatea Magazine’s Showcase Sessions and For Folk’s Sake's song of the day feature.

With the band drawing comparisons to Fleetwood Mac, First Aid Kit and The Staves, The Frisbys quickly gained a reputation on the folk circuit for their striking song writing and stirring harmonies. 

The past year has seen them support artists including Mark Chadwick, Messenger and Ralph's Life favourites Eamonn Coyne and Kris Drever in beautiful venues such as The Borderline,The Natural History Museum and St Pancras Old Church.

Look no further than The Live Room at The Caroline Social Club in Saltaire.



The Live Room is the brainchild of Ron Dukelow and Hilary Booth, both experienced music promoters, who, for ten years were the driving force behind the highly successful Live at the Talbot series at the Talbot Hotel in  West Wales.

It's their intention to bring the same ethos to their new venue at the Caroline Social Club to make it the best folk and roots music venue in the Bradford area. 

If you have a suggestion for an artist to play there get in touch. They can't promise that they'll be able to present them, but they'll consider all ideas.

Next gig on the agenda is an absolute cracker as Kris Drever & Eamonn Coyne take to the stage at the venue.....Sunday 17th February 8pm.

 A super duo, featuring two of the finest musicians on the acoustic scene today, Kris and Éamonn met through the vibrant Edinburgh music scene but neither are Edinburgh natives; Éamonn is from Ireland and Kris is from Orkney.  They have performed and toured together at various intervals since then, augmenting the busy schedules they have performing separately with other bands and musicians.

here's a track from their new Album 'Story Map' out on Reveal Records on the 4th February 2013 called 'Isle Of France' and it's a poignant, heartfelt tale and one I hope they'll unfold for you at the gig.

Kris Drever is a talented guitarist and singer from the Orkney Islands whose debut solo album ‘Black Water’ won him the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2007. He was also an awards winner the following years with the mighty Lau, winning ‘Best Group’ in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He has toured and recorded all over the world with names such as Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader. He is also a noteworthy composer and has collaborated with Roddy Woomble (Idlewild), Ian Carr (Kate Rusby Band) and John McCusker. 

Éamonn Coyne has performed and recorded with a vast array of people including Siobhán and Tommy Peoples, The Wrigley Sisters, Eileen Ivers, Sharon Shannon and Jonny Hardie. Along with traditional Irish music, he also performs with the internationally renowned jazz/bluegrass 5-string banjo astronaut and recent Grammy winner Alison Brown and her fabulous Quartet.  He also plays with Salsa Celtica and has recorded two cds with them.
