The Honeyfire

Sisters Sally and Natalie Joiner are The Honeyfire, a dream-pop guitar band hailing from Bristol, UK.

Their enchanting harmonies and textured guitar lines reveal an honest and endearing bond between the siblings. Blending themes of fear, failed love across dreamscapes thorugh their poetic lyrics, these ethereal songstresses captivate their audiences with dark and hauntingly beautiful live performances.

Sally and Natalie began writing and performing together from a young age and that shows in the quality of their latest single Replica. It'll be on Ralph's Indie Show next Sunday - 18.9.16.




During their musical development The Honeyfire were briefly joined by drummer Anja Quinn and they began to make a name for themselves supporting national touring artists, such as Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Bristol's very own She Makes War, also receiving radio play from BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing.



The Honeyfire recorded their self-titled debut album with Jim Barr (Portishead and Get The Blessing) at his Bristol studio. With a sound ranging from the energetic driving guitar riffs of 'Parallel' to the a cappella vocals and music made on a saw in 'Unheard Voice', the album was released in December 2014 through Bristol based Jelli Records, and was met with widespread critical acclaim.

Performing at various festivals including Lakefest, Nibley and Bristol Acoustic Music Festival where they appeared alongside Chris Wood, Stackridge and Thea Gilmore, September 2015 saw them performing The London Acoustic Show before reverting to their two piece line up.



The Honeyfire continue to perform across the UK alongside writing and recording material for release in 2016 and 2017. The sisters also host a monthly radio show on Pirate Nation Radio.

Clay Gods

Following on from the release of their Stone Asylum EP back in 2014 and prior to the release of the upcoming Shadows And Noise album next year, Gloucestershire based Clay Gods have decided to celebrate the addition of drummer Max Ganderton to the band with the release of a double A Side single.

The hard-driving Cabin Fever in particular and the slightly lighter Looking For Jerusalem are the epitomy of doom-laden rock, lyrically and musically in the style of Liverpool's excellent Kynchinlay. Clay Gods avoid the more aggresive vocals of some of their contemporaries, blending more melodic vocals with driving rock-based guitar play.




A blistering live act Clay Gods create "an on-stage hurricane of drums, guitar and energy". They've already played prestigious venues such as The Fleece and The Exchange in Bristol. 

With the addition of this new material they will not only garner a reputation as one of the south west’s most exciting rock bands, but also spread the word further afield with radio friendly tracks like Cabin Fever.

Scout Killers

There's been a plethora of guitar driven alt/rock in the kennel's inbox these last few weeks, however only some have floated their way to the top of the pile. One, in particular, is Bath-based Scout Killers who are releasing their track Rip Me Apart as a single on March 28th.

The band draws its influence from the likes of Rage Against the Machine, Q.O.T.S.A, Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their powerful live sets are defined by viscerally expressive vocals, atmospheric and foreboding guitar swells and shadowy rhythmic undertones which shine through when it comes to Scout Killers songwriting.



Rip Me Apart has a Them Crooked Vultures feel to it (hardly surprising given Scout Killers influences) as it builds to a dark, anthemic climax. Strong songwriting, strong musicality, what's not to like for connoisseurs of guitar driven alt/rock and it'll make for a real live favourite when Scout Killers are on tour.

Crystal Seagulls.....clear cut ambition.....

Crystal Seagulls bill themselves as a new London-based four piece Brit Rock band whose music holds a mixture of the infectious sounds of the Sixties, the swagger of the Nineties whilst simultaneously paving the way for a whole new style of music.  Brave words but do they live up to their swag?  Yes they do as they've just seen of some stiff competition to win the right to play the Isle Of Wight festival Introducing Stage at this years festival!  They're one of only 6 bands chosen from the 3,000 who originally applied.




Well you only have to listen to 'Yours For As Long As You Keep Me' to pick up the Brit Pop vibe, hints of those cheeky chappies Supergrass and just a sprinkling of Blur.  If you want to dredge the depths of time for a true influence there's more than just a nod to the godfathers of Brit Pop,The Small Faces.....this is a good thing!

Despite only having formed early this year they've had some exposure on the airwaves including French station RKC, BBC Three Counties Radio and most recently Brooklands Radio in North Surrey when they were nice enough to give this very blog a name-check!  

Back to the music and the next track for your delictation is 'Ups and Downs' which is a punchier guitar driven track that'll have the Crystal Seagull's crowds firmly in the palm of their hands.....or should that be under their wings?  Despite their relatively recent formation they've been doing some extensive gigging including a spot at this years sell out Brisfest!

'Play Dead' is a dirtier, sleazier track, all throaty vocals, drums and thrashing guitar.....gotta love it.....a bit more grown up from ones so young.  They got together whilst at college earlier this year and things have moved on fairly swiftly since.....some very accomplished music for ones so relatively young.  Crystal Seagulls seem to have a good grasp of what it takes to get noticed and how to get their music out there.....
