Just in time for Crimble, Manchester band Duke and The Darlings have released a new single - 'Svengali Says' and it's a Christmas cracker of an alt-pop gem. The punchy drum takes you into Brit-pop vocal to kick it off before a catchy guitar riff brings you in to a heavier Indie alt-rock chorus. It's an infectious crowd pleaser of a track designed to get any joint jumpin'. Release date for the Duke and The Darlings new single is 20th December 2013.
Duke and The Darlings are Alex Reed, Jonny Saatchi, Grant Tildsley and Luke Wilkinson who have seen a fair old amount of critical acclaim since the successful release of their second EP 'Champagne Of The People' (ironically named given their penchant for craft beers). 'Svengali Says' has crested on the alt-pop wave created by the EP and it's got radio play etched into it.
With another EP planned for March next year this single might see a move away from the likes of the pop fueled 'Whiter Than White' but in the interim they're taking a rest from gigging in order to focus on their new material, so the next chance to catch them live will be 22nd March 2014 in - quite aptly - a brewery.
By way of a taster for 'Svengali Says' here's the meatier track 'Let Me Down' from their first EP recorded live at Abbey Road. My first introduction to Duke and The Darlings and I liked it!
