wojtek the bear

Self-confessed Frightened Rabbit fans wojtek the bear have released their debut single Dead From The Waist Up and proclaim "It marries quintessential indie-pop songwriting with melodies and hooks as big as mountains".

Hailing from Glasgow this four-piece have indeed come up with a wee cracker of a debut release. It's nicely crafted and evocative soundscape gels nicely with a seemingly retrospective lyric.

Well travelled previously band-wise, Graham, Martin, Neil and Tam came together earlier this year to create the nicely polished wojtek the bear.

The single is accompanied by a nifty but upsetting (the heroine pours out the contents of a bottle of wine) video shot in the 'wilds' of South Lanarkshire by Beth Chalmers who has previously worked with Low (who just toured with PJ Harvey) and the lovely Martha Ffion

Ralph will be spinning Dead From The Waist Up on the Radio KC Indie Show on Sunday August 7th and you can watch the video right now.

You can catch wojtek and the bear live in Glasgow's iconic King Tuts Wah Wah Hut on August 25th, one not to be missed methinks.
