Mark Greenaway is known for his imaginative dessert creations and believes that the origins of a great dessert start in the imagination and then are worked out carefully using a variety of techniques, ingredients and flavours. Shortbread can be frozen, jelly can be a liquid, marshmallows can be crunchy.
The Mark Greenaway Award has been established to find Scotland's most innovative dessert from an amateur chef.
A shortlist of 6 entrants will be invited to Restaurant Mark Greenaway on the afternoon of Sunday 8 December to prepare their desserts for the judges – Chef Mark Greenaway, Leila Kean from Innis & Gunn and Donald Reid, food and drink editor at The List magazine.

The prize:
- The Mark Greenaway Award trophy
- A case of Limited Edition Oak Aged Beer from Innis & Gunn
- The winning dessert will feature on the menu at Restaurant Mark Greenaway for one night (in January or February 2014)
- The winner will come into the kitchen that evening to prepare the desserts and be mentored by Mark
- A table for 4 that evening for the winner's family and friends
- A set of personalised chef’s whites
- Your submission must be an original and innovative dessert that could sit alongside Mark's portfolio of desserts.
- All entrants must be over 18 years of age.
- All entrants must be able to attend the judging at Restaurant Mark Greenaway on Sunday 8 December (with up to 2 guests).
