Russian Gun Dogs

Any band with the word dog in it is bound to come under Ralph's scrutiny at some point and Russian Gun Dogs are no exception.  Hailing from Coventry, Russian Gun Dogs have created a big buzz around them, with many tipping them for big things. Having secured support slots with bands like Pigeon Detectives, Ash and Spector to name a few, as well as being handpicked to play Godiva Festival Mainstage in July, the future looks brighter than ever.

Russian Gun Dogs describe their music as indie/dark wave in the style of Editors, The Big Pink and White Lies (or old school - think Joy Division mixed with The Chameleons and a bit of Depeche Mode) dance-influenced indie rock with huge anthemic choruses.  They'll certainly need those anthems to keep them at the head of the pack as in the world of Indie just now it's dog eat dog (see what I did there) with bands like Scotland's Vigo Thieves and The Draymin or Manchester's Mutineers and Slydigs producing big tunes and starting to dominate the Indie circuit.

Fortunately with tracks like 'Dresden' (local BBC Intro named it track of the year for 2012) they're keeping up with the pack.  It's a strong guitar driven track that would have a Festival crowd baying (too many dog puns...I don't think so) for more.

Things look even more promising on the BBC Intro front as their track 'Survive' has been tipped as one of their top tracks of 2013.  It's a moodier track and definitely more suited for radio play.  it's guaranteed to see their loyal band of  fans spread further afield than Coventry.

With that in mind take the chance to catch them live in Birmingham's Rainbow venue on the 1st February with The Culture and GableKorps.  It'll be the dogs bollocks!

Upcoming dates are.....

30th August Lainfest, Atherstone.
26th September – Amersham Arms, 388 New Cross Road, SE14 6TY
18th October – Kasbah Nightclub, Primrose Hill Street, Coventry CV1 5LY
